Title: ESG Program Manager - Europe
Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week, Monday - Friday)
Reporting Location: Europe, London preferred
Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000/year
Verdani Partners is seeking a highly motivated ESG Program Manager to join a talented team of ESG experts to support an exciting large international real estate portfolio. This is a strategic position that requires a self-motivated individual with strong skills in project/team management and interpersonal communication. Additionally, the individual must be able to navigate through a variety of tasks, maintain flexibility, and demonstrate ESG knowledge specific to the EU/UK. The successful candidate will work directly with corporate sustainability (CESG) and technical services (TS) team members to develop and implement environment, social, and governance (ESG) strategies and initiatives to support global commercial real estate clients.
The ESG Program Manager will assist in the implementation, reporting and evolution of the ESG Strategy and policy/guidance documents for Europe. Primary responsibilities for this position include managing multiple sustainability projects, evaluating different vendors and proposals, performing large-scale environmental data management, support with various ESG reports and compliance with EU/UK ESG regulatory mandates. This position will also be expected to support the global equity and debt tasks across all portfolios. For example, data capture/gaps/review, support sustainability construction standards, and prepare for baseline energy intensity pilot.
This position requires coordination directly with our clients; therefore, they must have superior communication, writing, and presentation skills. The position also involves producing high-quality reports such as graphs, tables, and presentations to present to our clients.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering, Environmental Engineer, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, other related field
Excellent track record project managing sustainability projects and/or programs at a portfolio level
Ability to effectively manage a team and delegate tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead meetings and give presentations to both internal and external stakeholders
Passion for sustainability and green buildings
Knowledge of building systems and energy data analysis
Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft suite, i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects at once and manage competing priorities
A self-motivator with a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented mindset
Preferred:
Professional experience working as an ESG Coordinator/manager, sustainability consultant, or similar within the Commercial Real Estate/Built Environment sector.
Experience with EU/UK regulatory mandates such as SFDR, EU Taxonomy, EET, Tertiary Decree, MiFID
Familiarity with BREEAM In-Use assessment and certification
Experience with Net Zero action planning and decarbonization management in alignment with CRREM
Experience evaluating vendors and proposals
Experience analyzing utility data and using different analytic tools/databases (ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, Measurabl, Deepki, etc.)
Ability to engage and educate a diverse set of stakeholder groups including portfolio managers, property managers and building managers
Experience working on various sustainability reporting initiatives such as GRESB, CDP, UNPRI, TCFD, INREV, SFDR etc.
Knowledge of green building certifications such as LEED, Fitwel, WELL, IREM, BREEAM
Experience coordinating onsite and offsite renewable energy projects at a portfolio scale.
Basic understanding of asset management and commercial real estate
LANGUAGES
Fluent in English. Bilingual preferred.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
This position can be done remotely and located anywhere in the European Union or United Kingdom. London preferred.
